Everything You Need to Know for Halloween!
Halloween is only a couple of days away, the clocks have gone back and a layer of frost is starting to cover the ground. Autumn is officially here! But that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop, October and November are jam packed with things to do and in the spirit of Halloween, lots of attractions have gone all out with the spook factor! We’ve put a list together of a few attractions we think are perfect for this time of year.
The London Ghost Bus Tour
Now let me tell you about this tour! It is the perfect amount of spooky and fun all wrapped up in one unique sightseeing experience. This one is perfect for the whole family and suitable for children 4 and up, so no one has to be left behind. This tour includes on-board actors and technical trickery so be ready for a few jumps and scares along with a bit of education on London’s most famous attractions from the creepy conductor.
The London Bridge Experience
Ever imagined what it was like to live in London back in the day? Well, this experience pretty much sums it up. Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and even smells of historical London and experience the great fire of London, the bridge’s past prison and the infamous torture chamber. If that’s not enough to spook you then you may even find yourself donning a sword and shield to repel the rebels.
London Dungeons
Another one perfect for the kids is the London Dungeons. Known for its incredible special effects and its immensely talented actors, this attraction is sure to keep you on your toes. As well as a few scares this attraction is also really educational and teaches you all about the more gruesome side to London’s past. Things like the Black Plague, the wrath of Henry VIII, the tale of Guy Fawkes and even meet the notorious characters from London’s chequered past including Sweeny Todd and Jack the Ripper.
Tower of London
The Tower of London is steeped in history and as probably one of the most famous landmarks in London it’s clear to see why it’s so popular. Especially for Halloween they have put on a few exciting tours including the Tower Twilight Tours and Bloody Tower both of which allow you to explore the tower’s infamous past and many of their secrets.
Warwick Castle
Warwick Castle is ready and rearing for this Halloween season. They have filled the castle with some fun activities for the family to enjoy such as, Scaredy Square, Daring Dukeand Brave Knight. All of which host an amazing array of activities to do throughout the day! We would definitely recommend a full day here as there is so much to do and see. Other than their themed events the castle itself has so much history to explore and is remarkable to see.
Thorpe Park & Chessington World of Adventures
Any thrill seekers? Fright Nights at Thorpe Park will definitely test your limits, with their specially designed horror mazes and exhilarating rides you will be quivering in your boots! This event isn’t recommended for anyone under the age of 13 as there can be live actors wandering around the park. Chessington World of Adventures is more for the kids but is also hosting some excellent themed events like Haunted Howl’o’ween Live Show and Room on The Broom. In the words of Chessington ‘Spooktacular Fun for All Ages’!
Jack the Ripper Evening Tour
Get ready to head to the dark side of London to hear the stories of the haunted city. Starting at the theatre Drury Lane, said to be the most haunted in London, moving onto the Old Bailey and along Fleet Street the home of Sweeny Todd and Mrs Lovett, upon reaching the East End prepare to hear tales of 19th Century crime and vice and then into the shadows of Jack the Ripper. Prepare to walk his death trail inspecting the murder sights, deciphering the evidence and discussing the suspects.
Theatre Shows
You normally associate the theatre with a good old sing song and some top class performances! Well, The Woman in Black is a gripping theatrical exploration of terror, that’s been thrilling audiences with its unique blend of suspense, drama and bold stagecraft. The show has been going for 27 years which showcases its popularity and talent. This gripping production is a brilliantly successful study in atmosphere, illusion and controlled horror.

Hampton Court Palace Ghost Tours
Hampton Court Palace in itself is magnificent and steeped in royal history. Now combine this with their specially created ghost tours and you’ve got yourself a Halloween treat! The palace was once home to King Henry VIII and has many a tale to tell.
